Students On Air !

14th February 2009. It was 12’O clock. It is fourth floor of Shahid Mahfuzur Rahman Hall. Five students together, one in front of a microphone and one in front of a pc. They are trying to broadcast a live program through radio, which is not traditional, but from online.

HSTU, it is the University of Northern Bangladesh, which situated at Dinajpur district under Rajshahi division. In that time, “Online Radio” was a new concept for young generations of Bangladesh.

It was not too much familiar among the people. In that time two student of HSTU is trying to build up an online radio. It was only functional for listening songs. There were no live programs. Few more students came in to this group and tried to make it better. They give a name of this radio and it was “Radio Something”.

9-11 may, 2009 was a memorable occasion for HSTU. For the first time “IT festival’09” held in the campus. The HSTU turned into festive mood. Radio something took a stall in the festival and they broadcast the festival lives including seminars, workshops, gaming and programming contest results. The number of listeners in that time increases and it become popular among the students and well-wishers.

In that time, they have faced a lot of trouble to broadcast their programs. They failed to solve their problems & thought that it will not be possible for them to continue their radio service. However, they never stop their work completely. They try to contact with some companies so that they can spread their hands to solve their problems & improve their quality. At last, they came into a partnership with Soft Tech Innovation Ltd.

They build up a new format, change the name and appear newly as “Radio Bijoy”.

“Radio Bijoy” is now one of the most favorite Online Radio station, broadcasting varieties of programs 24Hrs. Programs like live concert telecast, talk show, and non-stop music to its listeners around the world.

Recently Radio Bijoy became third among all online radio station in the Bangladesh ranked by RealRadios.com an international site that ranks Online radio stations of different country & continent wise. Radio Bijoy came into the ranking due to its uninterrupted service & effort.

They are in process of launching Radio Bijoy News, Beauty care program, IT based program for its wide range of listeners around the world. Spread out the bangla culture and spread its heritage.

Most of the RJ’s of “Radio Bijoy” are young, energetic from different universities but Professionals like A.M.Ishtiaque Sarwar who is the Managing Director of Soft Tech Innovation Ltd. is head of Radio Bijoy. Now it is a Joint Venture Concern of Soft Tech Innovation Ltd. & muthoFUN.

They are working with different organization as their online radio partner, some of them are, Eastern University, Bangladesh Open Source Network [BdOSN] etc.

They eager to go for partnership with different potential organizations like educational institutions, volunteer organizations & government organizations who work closely with public so that they can spread their presence through them with mutual benefit.
